Formerly known as the Mossman Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Douglas FNQ proudly continues over 70 years of service to Mossman, Port Douglas and communities across the Douglas Shire.

Mossman is located on the northern end of the Cook Highway, 75 kilometres north of Cairns and 20 minutes north of Port Douglas.

Situated in the picturesque Mossman River Valley in Far North Queensland it is the gateway to the Daintree National Park and nearby world renowned Mossman Gorge.

Mossman township population is approx 2000 while the surrounding communities of Cooya, Newell and Wonga have another 2000.

The resident population of the Douglas Shire in Far North Queensland is around 13,500.

The region spans 2,445 square kilometres with a low population density of about 5.4 people per square kilometre. Nearly 60% of the shire’s residents live in the two main hubs of Port Douglas and Mossman.

While the permanent resident population sits around 13,500, the shire’s economy is highly dependent on tourism, attracting over 1.2 million visitors annually.

The district economy is rural based, sugar cane farming being the dominant industry, with horticulture tourism and cattle also being important sectors.

The district has a significant indigenous population, the Kuku Yalanji people who have inhabited this area for many generations.

The Rotary Club of Douglas FNQ was previously known as the Rotary Club of Mossman.

The Rotary Club of Mossman was chartered in May 1955, by the Rotary Club of Cairns.

It has a mixed gender membership. Its members, through Rotary, serve the community by working to benefit charitable organisations and generally promoting good citizenship.

The Rotary Club of Douglas FNQ is a proud member of Rotary District 9560.
